Lorenzen Wright article analysis

The name of this article is called “Who killed Lorenzen Wright? Ex-NBA player’s murder still remains a mystery.” It was written by Jon Wertheim, and published on October 18, 2015. People are still wondering why Lorenzen Wright was murdered to this day and if he did anything to initiate the conflict that happened on the night he was murdered. I believe he was wrongfully killed and just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The article states that on July 19, 2010, Lorenzen Wright had made a 911 call, and during that call, about 9 shots were fired, and the line went dead. The dispatcher tried calling again, but the call was not answered. The dispatcher waited a whole eight days to report the incident to a supervisor, which would later involve a police investigation towards the dispatcher and an undisclosed sum paid to Wright’s family in a legal settlement. Ten days after the incident, Wright’s body was found in a remote wooded area of southeast Memphis.

What I liked about the article is that it gives a little insight into his personal life after explaining all the things that happened that led up to his murder. It mentions his family, and some details about his NBA career and the teams he played for. In the article on paragraph 14, it talks about how Wright's parents separated when he was very young, but were still a big part of his life. It talks about how as a senior in high school, he moved to Memphis full-time for basketball, and became a McDonald’s All-American. I like how the article brings in all this information because it sheds a light on all the positive things that he did and brings a good light on him.

In the article, it doesn’t bring any negative things that he did that might of been a factor or multiple factors to why he was murdered that night. He had made that 911 call because he was in a dangerous situation that he was wrongfully put in. That is why I think Lorenzen Wright was murdered innocently and didn’t deserve to be murdered.
