Which development in sports journalism had the biggest imapct?

In my opinion, the development that had the greatest impact on sports journalism was the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution helped increase urbanization and technological innovations to make it cheaper to produce the printing of newspapers. That made the population of newspaper users expand greatly. From the mid to late 1800’s, the newspaper industry had greatly improved its popularity and eventually, The New York World newspaper had it’s own sports department, and the New York journal got it’s own distinct sports section.
